Like many of you, I’ve been exploring the explosion of AI tools promising to change the content creation game. Lately, I’ve seen this tool called Poppy AI pop up everywhere, often described as a “visual mind map AI” or a “whiteboard” for content.
One video even went viral showing its capabilities. Naturally, I was intrigued. Could this be the “magical game-changing AI tool” it claims to be?
To get a real sense of Poppy AI, I’ve spent time reviewing several creators who have actually paid for it and integrated it into their workflows.
My goal was to figure out if it lives up to the hype, how others are *really* using it, and, most importantly, is it worth the cost, which is often described as “pricey”?
While some people initially thought they might just try it for a month and cancel, several are finding unique features compelling enough to potentially keep it long-term, exactly like me !

So, What Exactly is Poppy AI?
Poppy AI is fundamentally different from just a regular chatbot like ChatGPT or Claude. It’s designed as a visual workspace where you can import various types of media and documents onto a board, almost like a digital whiteboard.

The key distinction seems to be its ability to literally “watch” and process video content from platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram by analyzing their links and content.
It can also handle website links, text, screenshots, audio recordings, documents, spreadsheets, and PDFs.
Within this visual space, you interact with an AI chat, but unlike a standard chatbot, you can connect specific sources from your board directly to the chat to provide context and information for the AI to work with.
It also gives you access to multiple large language models like Claude, GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, and even Gork within the same interface.
How Does Poppy AI Works
Here are the general 4 phases workflow of Poppy AI
1. Importing Content
You drag and drop or copy-paste links or files onto your board. We can easily import our own content (videos, tweets, emails, documents) to train the AI on their unique style.
We can even import viral videos or competitor content to analyze successful patterns. Research materials like articles, podcasts, documents, or even audience feedback from spreadsheets can also be imported.
Note: You can group related content together on the board to keep your workspace organized and make it easier to connect sets of information to the AI chat in the following steps.
2. Automatic Processing
A significant time-saving feature is that Poppy AI automatically transcribes videos and audio files once you import them. This eliminates manual transcription steps.
3. Connecting to the AI Chat
You open an AI chat window on the board. You then connect specific pieces or groups of content to this chat by dragging a line from the source to the chat bubble.
This feeds the information from those sources directly into the AI’s context for that specific conversation.
4. Interacting with the AI Chat
With the sources connected, you prompt the AI with questions or tasks related to the content you’ve provided.
You can ask it to summarize, bullet point, find patterns, answer questions based only on the sources, or, most commonly, generate content based on the combined knowledge of the connected items.
Best Ways of Using Poppy AI
Here are the most powerful way for using Poppy AI to streamline our content creation workflows, especially scripting.
1. Training the AI on Your Unique Style
By feeding it your past videos, tweets, emails, or other writings, the AI learns your specific tone, language, cadence, structure, and even slang.
This allows it to generate content that sounds genuinely like you, not just generic AI output. For example, I can ask Poppy AI chatbot questions like “Based on my content, how do I talk?” or “What have you noticed about how I speak that differs from others” to get a framework of their style.
2. Analyzing Viral Content
We can also import highly successful videos or content from our niche to identify what makes them work.
Poppy AI can transcribe these videos and analyze them to tell you the patterns, formulas, structures, hooks (visual and verbal), and production elements that likely contributed to their virality.
3. Generating Scripts Based on Combined Knowledge
This is where the real magic happens!
By connecting both our own content group (for style) and the analyzed viral/research content (for patterns, information, and structure) to the AI chat. We then give the AI a content idea (either our own or one generated by the AI). Poppy AI can then generate a script that uses the viral patterns/information you provided, written in your unique voice and style.
This is like take thoughts and give you an entire script outline or full script. You can then refine the script, ask it to expand sections, improve hooks, or add specific details.
This process can be used for YouTube videos, TikTok/Reels, Twitter threads, VSLs, and email sequences.
4. Research and Information Synthesis
Beyond scripting, Poppy AI can be used as a research assistant. It can quickly process and summarize large amounts of information from multiple sources like videos, articles, podcasts, documents, or spreadsheets.
This is really useful for staying updated on industry news, understanding complex topics, or analyzing audience feedback.
5. Brainstorming and Organization
Since the visual board is a space to throw all your ideas, notes, screenshots, voice memos (which get transcribed!), and external content in one place and see how they connect. It helps manage the “messiness” of creative ideas.
6. Content Re-purposing
We can feed existing content (like an email or a long video) into Poppy AI and ask it to repurpose the information into different formats optimized for other platforms (e.g., turning a YouTube video into multiple short viral Reels).
The Pros Of Poppy AI
Despite the cost, I find a lot of significant values in Poppy AI which make me still willing to pay for it.
- Significant Time Saving: This is perhaps the most benefit. It saves me an “insane amount of time” to get things done in minutes instead of days. It automates steps like transcription and eliminates clicking and copying/pasting across multiple tools.
- Visual Organization: The whiteboard interface is brilliant for visually organizing ideas, sources, and workflows in one place.
- Creation of High-Performing Content: I got surprising results directly from the scripts generated by Poppy AI, including significant increases in Twitter impressions and followers, Instagram views and engagement, YouTube views, email click-through rates, and even generating substantial client revenue. It’s like having the “cheat code” for content creation.
- Personalized Content in Your Style: The ability to train the AI on your specific tone and voice is a major differentiator. It generates scripts that sound crazy accurate and genuinely like myself, capturing slang, cadence, and typical phrasing.
- Unique Ability to Analyze Video Content: The capability to take a YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram video link and have the AI process, transcribe, and analyze it directly is a unique feature not typically found in other AI tools alone. Just a quick remind, Google’s NotebookLM can also analyze the YouTube videos, but seems not work on other videos like Tiktok.
- Multiple LLM Access in One Place: Having access to different AI models like Claude, GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, and Grok within a single chat window is convenient. We can switch between models for different purpose (e.g., Claude for conversational writing, GPT for other tasks).
- Streamlined Workflow: The all-in-one nature of Poppy AI and its automation features simplify complex content creation processes. It helps bring the “messiness” of creative ideas and notes together in a structured way.
- Active Development & Support: Poppy AI is actively developing new features and the support is super responsive and nice.
The Cons of Poppy AI
Everything has its downside, the same to Poppy AI. There are some limitations you need to know about Poppy AI.
- The Cost: Poppy AI is a little bit pricey. The upfront annual payment can feel like a big investment.
- The Credit System: This is a huge bummer and a significant limitation. Poppy AI uses a credit system based on the number of items connected to the chat and chat interactions. Reaching your credit cap means you have to wait until the next month or upgrade to a more expensive plan. While a helpful tip to mitigate this is to disconnect sources from the chat once the AI has processed their information, as the knowledge often stays in the chat’s context, and this saves credits on subsequent interactions.
- No Custom GPT Access: For users who have built custom GPTs in ChatGPT, not being able to access them directly within Poppy AI.
- Need for Fact-Checking and Proofreading: This is a general AI limitation, but it’s crucial to remember. While Poppy AI is excellent at processing and synthesizing the provided information, if you ask it to generate facts or research on its own without providing data, it can sometimes make up information or numbers that are not accurate. So we still need to be careful about the AI hallucination.
Poppy AI VS ChatGPT & Claude
Having used AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude, I found Poppy AI offers distinct, valuable capabilities, especially for content creation, though it’s not a direct replacement for everything.
Where I Found Poppy AI Different & Excelling:
Visual Workflow & Integrated Media
Unlike the ChatGPT & Claude, Poppy AI uses a visual board where I can place and connect media like videos, websites, documents, and text to an AI chat.
This visual, integrated approach feels “kind of brilliant” for organizing information and content planning.
Direct Media Analysis (Especially Video)
Poppy AI can actually watch videos from platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, and analyze what’s being shown.
Crucially, it automatically transcribes videos, which saves me the headache and so much time of using separate transcription tools.
Superior for Content Creation & Virality
Poppy AI seems significantly better for content creation and generating potentially viral content. It can also learn my personal speaking style and tone from my content, which is something I struggled to achieve consistently with ChatGPT.
Multiple Leading Models in One Place
Poppy AI provides access to multiple AI models including Claude, GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, and Grok within the same chat. I find this flexibility kind of brilliant, as different models good at different tasks.
Is Poppy AI Right for You?
Based on my own experience, Poppy AI appears to be a powerful and innovative tool that offers a fresh, engaging approach to content creation.
Its visual interface, unique ability to process and analyze video content, and capability to train on your specific speaking style seem to be the features that truly set it apart and provide significant value, especially in saving time and helping create content that performs well.
